Irish Apple reseller Compub is offering Mac users the chance to upgrade to Apple's latest 1GHz Power Macs for just £499 (ex-VAT).

Compub managing director Denis O'Connell said: "Interest in this offer so far has been phenomenal."

Under the deal, Mac users can trade-in their old Power Mac G4/400MHz or above for £459 towards the purchase price of a new Power Mac G4.

The offer is applicable across Apple's current Power Mac range.

A Power Mac G4/1GHz single processor, 1MB L3 cache, 256MB DDR RAM, 60GB, Combo drive, Nvidia GeForce4 MX costs £499 (ex. VAT) with the trade-in offer.

A Power Mac G4 1.25GHz dual processor, 1MB L3 cache, 256MB DDR RAM, 80GB, Combo drive, ATI Radeon 9000 costs £899 (ex. VAT) with the trade-in.

Finally a 1.42GHz dual-processor G4 Power Mac with 2MB Level 3 cache, 512MB DDR RAM, 120GB hard drive, SuperDrive and an ATI Radeon 9000 costs £1,299 (ex. VAT) with the trade in offer applied.
