BoxClever has announced a range of FireWire external hard-drives called Cool Box.

The products are set to ship in January 2002. Three configurations will be available initially: 80GB (£199), 120GB (£249), and 180GB (£299).

The device has been designed to complement Apple's Pro mouse, and includes a built-in neon indicator light on its base to show when the device is booted up.

The Cool Box hard disk spins at a respectable 7,200rpm and the device contains an 8MB internal cache for data transfers.

Cool Box uses Oxford Technology's fast 911 FireWire bridge to deliver sustained write speeds of 38Mbs on the product's two FireWire ports. It is powered by an external power supply, and ships with a one-year warranty.
