Corel is to scrap development of WordPerfect for the Mac, according to Macworld US.
The company said it will drop the Mac version of its word processing application to focus instead on its graphics products. Corel recently bought four of MetaCreations' graphics programs (Painter, Bryce, Kai's Power Tools and KPT Vector Effects).
WordPerfect for the Mac has not been updated since version 3.5 was released about four years ago, and Corel ended technical support for the product last year. According to the report, the reason for dropping the product entirely was that it would have taken two more years to develop a PowerPC-native version of the program.
