Canto Software has announced an OS X upgrade for Cumulus 5, its media asset-management system.
Cumulus 5 is a workgroup workflow application, and it is the first time Canto has offered Mac support with its server-level product. The OS X version is available as single-user and workgroup options. The company also announced a QuarkXPress filter for Cumulus 5 that lets users archive and manage XPress documents, as well as searching through XPress text.
“We are thrilled to be able to support the Macintosh at enterprise level,” said Canto’s CEO, Jennifer Neumann. “We believe enterprises will be looking at Mac OS X as a server solution.”
Ulric Knocke, Canto’s product manager, said: "With the release of Apple's Mac OS X Client, and especially Mac OS X Server, we now have the power of Unix and the ease of use of the Mac OS combined in one system."
There is also much pre-Expo speculation that Apple will release new server-configurations to support Mac OS X Server.
Canto's new products will ship in August. Pricing has not yet been announced.
