FileMaker has launched a $12,000 competition in conjunction with next month's FileMaker Developer Conference.
The international competition aims to reward the best new database solution created in FileMaker Pro 7. It's open to the general public who must download an entry form and full competition details.
Nominees will be selected by the company and presented to attendees of the FileMaker Developer Conference, August 29-September 1 at the Marriott Springs Resort Hotel in Phoenix Arizona.
One very lucky winner will be rewarded with FileMaker's 'Grand Prize', including: a dual 2.5GHz Power Mac G5; a 23-inch Apple Cinema HD display; a 40GB iPod; AirPort Express; FileMaker Server 7 Advanced; FileMaker Pro 7 (5-pack); FileMaker Developer 7; FileMaker Mobile 7 and DevCon '05 conference registration. Seven runners-up will receive free conference registration, though they will have to pay for their own travel and accommodation.
The Conference is expected to attract over 1,000 corporate and independent database developers, consultants and trainers from 25 countries.
Criteria for success in the competition include: originality; using new FileMaker Pro 7 tricks and technologies and user interface. The new version of the well-established databasing package has been completely rewritten in its most significant revision yet.
As well as a keynote speech from company president Dominique Goupil, conference attendees can attend any of 50 in-depth technical sessions, including: Migrating to FileMaker Pro 7; Web publishing with FileMaker; Security; Design and more.
