Dell is offering $99 to customers who trade-in iPods for one of its Digital Jukebox music players.

In the press release announcing the offer, Dell takes a shot at Apple, claiming: "It'll be a bright summer for digital-music fans tired of fading batteries".

The company's player has a battery life of 20 hours – "about two times that of the iPod", the company says.

Dell also makes much of the fact that Digital Jukebox works with online music stores that use the MP3 and Microsoft WMA format, while Apple's is compatible only with the iTunes Music Store.

Dell's 15GB music player normally costs $199.
