Apple came fifth in the list of best-selling US desktop machines, according to a Bloomberg report.
The company accounted for 3.8 per cent of desktop sales. Other results included: IBM - 7.8 per cent; Emachines - 14.3 per cent; HP - 30.9 per cent; and Compaq - 31.8 per cent. The overall market value of sales in the category was $435,925,200.
Critics have questioned the accuracy of the figures, pointing out that HP and Compaq are one, since the company's merged last year.
The report does not list the underlying figures, sources or year-on-year changes.
