Niemeijer Consulting has announced TouchStrokes 1.5, a major upgrade for its virtual keyboard for touch screens, server management and graphic tablet users.
The application offers a fully functional keyboard that works by drawing a keyboard image on the display. It lets users type characters into any normal application using a mouse, touch screen, graphic tablet, trackball, head pointer or other mouse emulator. It works seamlessly with all OS X, OS 9 and Classic applications.
Version 1.5 runs natively in Mac OS X, and now runs natively in OS 9.x. The virtual keyboard automatically adjusts to US and international keyboard layouts and has multiple resizable keyboard models. It can handle command-key combinations, dead keys and modifier keys. It offers a quick access toolbar and has many customizable settings.
A fully-functioning demo of the application is available online. The product costs $95, or 110 Euros (excluding Vat).
The company also announced version 1.1 of KeyStrokes virtual keyboard for Mac OS X. This is intended for users with disabilities, and provides an integrated, system-wide utility which allows mouse-button clicks to be entered by simply holding the cursor motionless for a programmable period of time.
