The Digital Camera Show opens today, with manufacturers seizing the chance to introduce a raft of camera-related Mac-compatible products.
Dazzle is launching its six-in-one card reader at the show. This is a dual slot-reader that accepts six media types, including CompactFlash Type I and II, IBM Microdrive, SmartMedia, SD Card, MultiMedia Card and Sony MemoryStick. Another feature of this solution is that the two card slots work concurrently, enabling direct transfer of files between media. This product ships in January. No price is yet available.
SCM Microsystems will launch its FireWire digital card-reader, the Microtech FireWire CameraMate. This offers a transfer rate of up to 5MB per second. It has a single slot that's compatible with all CompactFlash Type I and II cards, including IBM's Microdrive. The product ships with basic image-editing software, software to make images ready for the Web, and slide show software. This product costs £69.99 (inc. VAT) and is available from Digital First.
SCM Microsystems is also launching its tiny, cable-free, USB card reader, the Microtech ZiO! Flash memory card reader/writer. A number of different models are available, for CompactFlash, SmartMedia, MultiMedia and Secure Digital memory cards. The key fob-sized reader is cross-platform and available from PC World for £29 inc. VAT).
