Ilesa Software has released Download Deputy 5, the latest version of its Internet-download utility.
The product downloads requested files swiftly, can handle queued downloads and be set to download requested data when a Mac isn't being used. The product can also resume interrupted downloads.
The version upgrade introduces a selection of new features, including MirrorMagic. This technology will locate all the Internet mirrors offering a specified file for download. If a user disconnects from a server, or is dropped, MirrorMagic will connect to the next fastest server and automatically resume the download.
Other new features include: the ability to download files of a certain type to specific folders; the Mac OS Keychain can now be used to store and retrieve login information for downloads; and a Contextual Menu Plugin, so links can be sent for download by the utility form within a Web browser.
ilesa's chief executive officer and president Mallory Paine said: "Download Deputy 5 is the best download accelerator for the Mac. It's the greatest release of our best product, and I know that those who experience it will agree."
The application supports Mac OS 9.x to X 10.2.
Registration costs $24, registered users of version 4.x can upgrade for $12. A demo version is available. The full product is available now.
