Emagic will release Logic Platinum 5.2 for Mac and Windows – the next upgrade of its music-making application – in August 2002.
The update – which will be available as a free download to registered users – offers more features, and additional audio-routing possibilities through auxiliary channels, more audio tracks, an improved track mixer, and other pro-audio abilities.
The update also promises individual outputs for VST 2.0 and Emagic – which was recently acquired by Apple – software instruments. Intelligent, individual output-management features will be introduced within the update, claims the company.
A note on Emagic's site reports: “Another innovation is a newly created plug-in, known as the I/O-insert, which is used to route the signals of external effect processors into individual channels via inserts.”
Version 5.2 of Logic also offers hardware-independent real-time sample-rate conversion.
The company expects beta testing to reach completion over the coming weeks.
