Preflight Online looks for print errors such as missing fonts and images, poor colour-calibration and JPEGs. It's secure, as documents don't need to be uploaded for the pre-flight check, according to Extensis. No additional software is required for the check, other than a small plug-in for a browser.
The service already supports QuarkXPress 4.x, QuarkPassport and PDF files. It's designed for publishers to preflight documents. Print agencies offer the service to clients to save time on production glitches.
The new update automatically checks EPS files for colour mode, font usage, image resolution and other common problems. Like Extensis' desktop preflighting products, Preflight Online can now collect images, fonts and DTP documents for transmission to print bureaus.
