Apple will ship a version of Final Cut Pro 4 that is optimized for Power Mac G5s, the company revealed at European broadcast and media event, IBC.
Apple has published an extensive selection of images and product news from the show. A gallery of images shows Final Cut Pro product marketing manager Paul Saccone demonstrating a G5-optimized version of the application.
Apple writes: "Unsurprisingly, the overriding feeling among both exhibitors and attendees is that the new Power Mac G5, combined with the wide array of Mac-based hardware and software solutions on display at the show – including Apple’s suite of professional digital production applications – is set to take the audio, film and HD/SD video industries by storm."
To underline the importance of the sector to Apple, the company's senior VP worldwide product marketing Phil Schiller delivered a keynote speech called "The future of digital production", during which the Final Cut demo took place. The company also offered an exhibition stand and selection of training sessions.
Third party product news highlights from the event include AJA introducing its new G5-optimized Kona-HD card, Curious Software previewing Curious gFx for OS X, and The Foundry introducing its plug-in suite Furnace.
Pinnacle also delivered a version of its CineWave RT and RT Pro products which have been optimized for G5 processors at the show.
