Apple has published senior director of product marketing Quicktime and graphics Frank Casanova's recent keynote presentation to a key mobile telephony trade show.

The presentation is available in QuickTime format. It was delivered last week at the CTIA Wireless IT and Entertainment 2004 conference in San Francisco.

In the presentation, Casanova explains Apple's solutions for producing content for the new industry, and the company's strategy of giving away essential sofware for content creation, such as QuickTime Streaming Server.

He also stressed Mac OS X's Unix backbone as an advantage for existing developers within the field.

Major cell phone carriers Verizon Wireless, Sprint, and Japan's NTT DoCoMo and KDDI use QuickTime on their servers to manage media for emailing photos and other services.

Casanova revealed marketshare figures that showed Windows Media with 38.2 per cent of the multimedia market; QuickTime with 36.8 per cent, and Real Player with 24.9 per cent.
