FWB Software has announced Catalog ToolKit, which analyses the content of hard drives, CDs and removable media to catalogue and retrieve digital files.
The product developed as a result of a cross licensing agreement between FWB and French software house Tri-Edre.
Once catalogued, a user can browse files and pictures in the volumes, even if they are not present on the Mac. Databases can also be shared between different users.
Gallery view The application begins cataloguing as soon as a new volume is detected. As soon as files are analyzed, a file and picture window allow you to browse all files along with galleries of thumbnails. Multiple files and pictures can even be displayed at the same time.
Users can assign comments or bookmarks to files and images. The application offers a simple search mode (advanced mode is also available for more defined criteria selections). The product supports AppleScript.
The product supports most common image file formats, including Photoshop, PICT, TIFF, JPEG, EPS, GIF and other media types, including MP3, audio and QuickTime. The utility creates previews and customizable thumbnail views. It can export data to HTML and PDF formats.
The product supports Mac OS 8.6 or later, as well as Mac OS X. It costs $89.95 – a free trial version is available for download from FWB Software's Web site.
