Elgato has released EyeTV 500, the first high-definition television (HDTV) solution for Mac OS X.
The new digital-video recording (DVR) system has been designed for North American Mac users, where there is a thriving digital terrestrial-television market. Macworld is awaiting confirmation on when it will be available for UK and European markets.
It allows users to watch, record, timeshift, edit and archive free over-the-air HDTV and digital standard-definition television (SDTV) on a Mac.
EyeTV 500 costs $349. It requires a FireWire-enabled G4/500MHz Mac or faster; Mac OS X v10.2.8 or later; 256MB RAM and 8GB of hard disk space per hour of recorded HDTV.
