Apple’s iBook was the top-selling portable computer in the US in the fourth quarter of 1999, according to research by PC Data.
PC Data’s report also says that combined sales of Apple’s iBook and PowerBook gave Apple a 10 per cent share of the US portable retail market during the quarter.
Stephen Baker, PC Data senior analyst and director of hardware, said: "The results speak for themselves – the company is delivering a strong portable line for both consumer and professional customers. Apple is poised to continue their success going forward with these products."
Earlier this week, Apple was rated number six PC seller in the US in1999, and number seven worldwide, by research firm Dataquest. According to Dataquest, the top seller was Dell, which beat Compaq for the first time.
