Apple has revealed that its iMovie video-editing software has been downloaded over 150,000 times in its first week as a free, online product – but only by US citizens. (See ’UK misses out on iMovie’).
Phil Schiller, Apple’s vice president of worldwide product marketing, said: "Like Apple’s iMac DV models, iMovie is an instant hit with 150,000 Power Mac G4 and PowerBook customers too."
A CD version is also available for $19.99, again only to US citizens. iMovie requires a Power Mac G4 or PowerBook with built-in FireWire, OS 9.0.4, QuickTime 4.1, 64MB RAM. Apple UK sources were unaware of any plans by Apple to release iMovie to Apple's international customers at this time.
