Iomega has released a FireWire version of its Peerless drive.
Peerless offers 10 and 20GB removable disks. With the addition of FireWire, Peerless now offers a sustained data-transfer rate of up to 15MB per second.
Werner Heid, Iomega's president and CEO, said: "People who are editing digital video, or running other high-bandwidth streaming applications, can never have too much backup speed or storage capacity - making the new Peerless FireWire bundle an ideal choice."
The Peerless base station costs £269. Disks are about the size of a Palm PDA and cost £159 for the 10GB version, and £199 for the 20GB media. The Peerless base station is also sold with a 20GB disk for £399.
