iPass has released iPassConnect 2.3 for Mac OS X.

iPass is a software solution that lets subscribers access the Web using a local call wherever they are worldwide. The software will find the closest iPass-supporting ISP to wherever a user is, routing that user's traffic over the Web to their own ISP.

It is aimed at travellers who need to keep in touch with their email account or office network while on the road.

TeleChoice analyst Patrick Hurley said: "Today's enterprise users want the freedom to connect to their corporate data from anywhere, at any time, and via any device.

"Solutions like iPassConnect, that expand the range of devices that enterprise customers can use for mobile connectivity, help provide secure remote access for all users within an enterprise."

The Mac OS X version offers full feature compatibility with the PC version of iPass, including authentication and security protection.

iPassConnect 2.3 for OS X supports wireless and wired broadband services on the iPass network. The company also has a client version for Mac OS 9.2 and earlier. Users need an iPass supporting ISP to use the service.
