The new wave of digital DJ-ing continues to gather pace with news of two iPod DJ events in the coming weeks.
London's newest iPod/MP3 player club night Playlist kicks off August 7 at Nambucca, Holloway Road. The event begins 8pm and ends at 2am. Admission is free.
At Playlist, digital DJs will get 15 minutes to play their tracks. Their selection will be assessed by a panel of judges. "If we like what you do, you get to play for longer," the organizers say.
"We are still pulling the show together," they told Macworld, explaining that they hope to offer drinks promotions, video mixing and fantastic prizes for the best DJs. "We'd love to be able to give away an iPod," they said, "but we're certain everyone will have a great time. We're working very hard to make sure we have a successful night."
Meanwhile noWax returns to Manchester June 23 at Centro, 72-74 Tib Street. This free event runs from 8pm to 1am.
At noWax, iPod DJ's get to play three tracks of their choice in a sound-clash against another DJ.
Organiser Jon Grant said: ‘It’s all about having a laugh. You never know what you’re going to hear next but you can always guarantee some classics."
