iPods will be under Christmas trees worldwide this season, new web statistics suggest.
ComScore Media Metrics has released its analysis of US consumer search terms in November, and iPod tops the list with 6.6 million searches for the term.
That's far ahead of the Xbox 360 (5 million searches) and over three times the 1.9 million recorded searches for the term PlayStation.
"While high consumer interest was expected this holiday season for items such as the iPod, Xbox 360 and PlayStation, the intense amount of search activity observed to-date demonstrates how popular these items are with consumers," said Gian Fulgoni, comScore chairman.
comScore estimates that consumer spending on retail goods at US Internet sites will exceed $19 billion for the entire 2005 November/ December season - 24 per cent higher than in 2004.
