Apple's iSight camera and iChat AV software have won an industry award.
The software-and-webcam combination won NetworkWorld magazine's Cool Tools Best of the Tests awards.
The magazine stated: "Apple wasn't the first company to make a webcam, it just made one that's better than others we've seen.
"A webchat over a broadband connection on both endpoints looked and sounded like a real-time video-conference with equipment that costs thousands of dollars."
The report concluded: "If Apple can take that technology and produce a webcam that works on a Windows machine, then it could take over this market as well."
Other finalists were the IBM ThinkCentre s50, the Palm/Handspring Treo 600, Palm Tungsten T3 PDA and the Netgear CG814.
