Palm has hired a new chief operating officer, Todd Bradley, the former executive vice-president of global operations at Gateway.
Bradley has been recruited as executive vice president and chief operating officer of Palm's solutions group. The appointment is part of the company's joint bid to consolidate its lead in the mobile-computing market and to return to profitability, the company says.
But much of this plan has involved Palm's ongoing programme of job cuts.
Palm's CEO Carl Yankowski said: "Bradley brings a strong track record of accomplishment in high-volume manufacturing, supply-chain management and international business.
"His management style and focus on growth will help take Palm's operation to the next level," he said.
Bradley said: "I'm delighted to join Palm. I'm confident Palm will be able to reach its goals."
The latest weekly report from research firm NPD Intellect shows Palm has increased its market share from 60 to 67 per cent since the release of its flagship m500. The research also shows that new products account for 24 per cent of all Palm handheld sales.
