Steve Jobs is to deliver the opening keynote speech at Internet World 2000 in Los Angeles, the show's organizer has confirmed.

The address will take place on Wednesday, April 5, immediately after the Internet World Industry Awards have been announced at 9.00am.

It was in favour of this show that Apple controversially dropped its appearance at Apple Expo UK in London. Apple, along with Intel, is a corporate sponsor of the show, which runs from April 3-7 at Los Angeles Convention Center.

Internet World covers two halls, with 500 exhibitors showing off the latest Internet technology, business applications and services. As well as Steve Jobs, four industry figures are set to give keynote addresses – John Patrick of IBM, Sean Maloney of Intel, John Sidgmore of MCI WorldCom and Kathleen Earley of AT&T.
