Apple has revealed aggressive plans to increase its share of Korea's music player market.

During Tuesday's launch event for the iPod photo and U2 iPod in Korea, the company's local CEO Sohn Hyung-man said: "We plan to increase our market share in Korea by 20-fold through aggressive marketing campaigns."

He pointed out that while the iPod has 52 per cent of the global market and 65 per cent of the US market, 97 per cent of Korea's market is dominated by flash-based music players.

Apple competitors, iRiver and Samsung currently dominate the local market, according to The Korea Times.
