Lexmark has announced its X5150 multi-function printer, scanner and copier. The device ships in February and costs £179.
Encased in a grey and silver box, the cross-platform unit can copy colour photographs, and automatically sense the type of paper stock it is using. Resolution is 4,800-x-1,200dpi in black and colour on photo paper, inkjet paper and transparencies, and 3,600-x-600dpi on plain paper. Print speeds up to 19 pages per minute (ppm) in black and 14ppm in colour are supported.
It also offers a variable ink-drop size - three picolitres for textured areas, and ten for solid areas.
The unit integrates its own photo-editing software, which can perform image crops, resizes, red-eye removal and colour manipulation.
The copier/scanning function is supported by the built-in 48-bit 600-x-2,400dpi scanner. It ships with fax and optical character-recognition software.
