Apple's Emagic audio subsidiary announced Logic 6.0 at NAMM yesterday.
The update delivers more efficient processor use as well as more powerful editing and mixing tools, the company claims.
Logic 6.0 offers intelligent CPU resource management - using the OSs multithreading abalities, and working out how to combine this with a system's installed processors.
It also introduces new set-up and file-management solutions in the form of Set-Up Assistant and Project Manager. The application also hosts improved film scoring features, a better sounding EQ, and MP3 import/export functionality.
The company has also introduced a number of features for digital-video editors, including smooth video synchronization, a video thumbnail track in the Arrange window, and it can playback digital-video movies over FireWire.
Logic 6 is available for Mac OS 9.x and Mac OS X. The product ships in mid-February,
International delivery will start in the middle of February 2003. Product pricing hasn't been announced, the current version 5.0 costs £200. Emagic products are distributed in the UK by Sound Technology.
