Internet portal Lycos is to buy online gaming-content provider and direct marketer, gamesville.com, in a $207 deal.

The acquisition of gamesville.com - which Lycos billed as one of the Web's "stickiest" sites - will generate more revenue and provide a nearly 20 per cent boost to Lycos' daily usage minutes, as well as strengthen the company's direct-marketing efforts, said Lycos president and CEO Bob Davis.
