Apple is warning .Mac subscribers of scheduled maintenance this weekend - while inviting them to its first .Mac night inside its global network of retail stores.

.Mac services will be unavailable between Saturday January 22 at 10pm and January 23 at 6am (PST). This equates to between 6pm January 22 and 2pm January 23 in the UK.

Apple warns that: "Included in this outage are all Web-based services and iDisk. New iChat sessions will be temporarily unavailable during the beginning of this maintenance period. email access from a client application, however, will not be affected."

Adding that it "regrets any inconvenience", Apple says it "appreciates user support as it continues to enhance its service".

In a separate mass mail Apple is inviting UK Mac users to attend "the very first .Mac night at the Apple Store, Regent Street."

This event begins at 7pm, and will feature members of the .Mac team from Apple HQ in Cupertino. The first 200 attendees will receive a free .Mac T-shirt. There will also be exclusive in-store savings on the night.
