Apple is looking to update its Mac Pro and Mac mini product lines in early August, it has been claimed.
Brian Tong of Cnet posted on his Twitter account on Sunday: "My sources tell me ALL NEW Next-Gen Mac Pros and Mac minis will launch either end of July first week of August."
Tong later clarified that early August was more likely. He also said that Thunderbolt ports and Sandy Bridge processors would most likely be present in the new Mac Pros and Mac minis and added: "NO details for specs or configurations given. DO NOT BUY! WAIT for the new Macs!"
As Apple Insider notes, he has form where predictions about Mac product line updates are concerned, correctly anticipating the launch of the new iMacs with Thunderbolt ports and Sandy Bridge processors back in May.
Both the Mac Pro and the Mac mini haven't been refreshed for around a year, with the last batch of Mac minis launched in June 2010 with the latest Mac Pro configuration the following month.
It is also anticipated that the MacBook Air line will be refreshed in July, according to separate reports. Apple is keen to delay the launch of any new hardware until after Mac OS X 10.7 Lion has been released.
