Apple is planning to launch a new MacBook Pro with a 2880 x 1800 resolution, according to a report.

Digitimes claims that its sources in Apple's upstream supply chain say that the new, ultra-high resolution MacBook Pro is coming in the second quarter of 2012.

At the moment, the 17in MacBook Pro comes with a 1920 x 1200 display, the 15in model with a choice of 1440 x 900 or 1680 x 1050 display, and the 13in model has a 1280 x 800 display.

The report doesn't say what screen size the new model will have.

Apple is reportedly set to expand the MacBook Air line-up with a 15in model early next year, according to sources in Apple's supply chain.
