Macromedia plans to release online-learning content creators for its core Web-products.

Complementing interactive-learning content, such as Authorware and Director Shockwave Studio, Macromedia are developing Learning Extensions for Flash, Dreamweaver and Director Shockwave Studio.

The extensions will help novice users build learning content. Planned extensions include navigational frameworks, learning interactions and quiz templates.

Pat Brogan, vice president of education and learning at Macromedia, said: "Applications require many technologies ranging from HTML-based courseware to interactive, media-rich simulations. By providing learning extensions and functionality to our core Web-products, developers can choose the right software for the job."

The first implementation is the new Learning Interaction Smart Clips currently shipping with Macromedia Flash 5. With Smart Clips, developers can quickly create content such as embedded interactions within instruction, or customized quiz templates.

Additional extensions will be delivered throughout the year.
