Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak thinks the company should spin-off its iPod division and believes it's past time for Microsoft to shed its "Darth Vader" image.
Speaking to the Canadian Globe and Mail Wozniak said: "We're a computer company, and we really think computers. Spinning off a separate division makes a whole lot of sense."
Despite that, Wozniak thinks Microsoft and partners have a long way to go before they deliver a product that truly competes with Apple's music player.
"If they do it, they better do it excellent, excellent, excellent because the iPod sure is. Doing something weaker and somehow trying to use your size and market power - that's just not good [enough] if you don't turn out something superior," he said.
"Microsoft wants to get out of the whole image of the big, black Darth Vader evil guy," he added.
According to the article, Wozniak is still on Apple's payroll "just out of loyalty".
