Microsoft is selling its share in Corel. The move follows a US Department of Justice (DoJ) decision to investigate Microsoft's investment in the company.

Conditions of the sale entitle Corel to keep the money Microsoft paid for shares in October 2000, but the company will no longer have a hold over Corel.

Details of the sales are listed by the Securities and Exchanges Commission.

The DoJ planned to probe whether Microsoft's stake in Corel would reduce competition in the word-processing, spreadsheets and graphics markets. The DoJ subpoenaed from Microsoft documents relating to the case three weeks ago.

In October, Microsoft invested $135 million in loss-making Corel.
