Oracle exhibited its Small Business Suite on a Mac client-machine at Macworld Expo last week.

The Oracle Small Business Suite includes customer-relationship management tools, and purchasing and e-commerce solutions. The suite also offers payroll management, expense reporting and time and billing tools. The suite is held on Oracle servers, and can be accessed by most major platforms through a Web browser.

Use of the Oracle Small Business suite costs $99 per month. The package is designed for businesses with up to 100 employees. The company is offering a free 14-day trial of its tools, and a test drive is also available. This requires registration and includes a complete sample data set. The test-drive version is a completely working full copy of the solution – but changes and additions made during the test drive are only held for one day. Oracle's suite is developed to support US currency and accountancy standards.

Oracle has already announced a selection of initiatives to get its solutions onto Macintosh desktops. The company is strategically moving to develop Mac OS X support for its applications, which use Sun's Java OS. Microsoft last week announced its plans to end Java support in most of its products, in order to encourage adoption of its own .NET strategy.
