The popular PC-only cash-management application Quicken will port to Mac OS X in August, Intuit announced today at Macworld Expo.

Quicken 2003 for Mac will provide Mac users with Web-based services, and is designed for consumers, small businesses and accounting professionals. The application is commonly used in conjunction with online-banking services.

Quicken general manager Roy Rosin said: "Features like Scheduled Updates and an enhanced customizable toolbar means Quicken 2003 for Mac will take the headache out of managing finances for Macintosh users."

Scheduled updates allows the user to schedule when the application receives online personal-finance data from different financial organisations. It can also automatically retrieve stock quotes for portfolios, and connects to more than 1,200 banks, credit-card companies and brokerages.

Quicken 2003 for Mac also works with Mac OS 9.0 and is expected to be in retail outlets in the US on August 21. Customers will be able to pre-order the product from July 25 from www.quicken UK shipping and pricing details were unavailable at the the time of writing.
