Apple CEO Steve Jobs has revealed that Apple surpassed analyst expectations, selling 4.5 million iPods in the 2004 Christmas quarter.
Jobs noted that the 4,500,000 figure is an amazing 500 per cent increase on the same sales figure in 2003. In that Christmas quarter the company sold 733,000 iPods.
Jobs told the Macworld Expo keynote audience: "I can't begin to tell you how great that makes us feel."
The CEO also noted that Apple had sold 8.2 million iPods in the 2004 calender year, making the 10 millionth iPod on December 16. The company will not be selling this iPod, Jobs joked that he had been advised to keep it.More from Macworld Expo San Francisco
