Extensis has announced Suitcase Fusion, a font management solution for single-users.
The software integrates features from Suitcase X1 and Font Reserve 3, offering the user interface of Suitcase with the capability of Font Reserve, with additional font management capabilities and features.
Centralised, fast font management
Features of Suitcase Fusion include: a central font repository, face level activation, font corruption checking and font identification technology.
The product offers automatic font activation (Font Sense) so users need not think about activating the right fonts when they open a document. It automatically categorises fonts by classification, foundries, and font families. Users can also create their own classifications and foundries and change them on the fly.
The software also offers multiple font previews, collects fonts for output, and organises them into nested sets and keywords.
Font Sense is available in all Suitcase Fusion plug-ins and allows for font identification within QuarkXPress, InDesign and Illustrator documents.
Font Vault central
One feature, Font Vault offers a managed repository that integrates with the Suitcase Fusion database and makes font management predictable and reliable, especially when users have multiple versions of fonts with the same PostScript name.
Suitcase Fusion also offers improved font handling through Type Face Activation. It automatically splits up font suitcases when fonts are added to the Font Vault.
Also in the box, users receive a free copy of Morrison Software's Font Doctor 7 for built-in corrupt font detection and repair.
Available for download now
English, French and German versions of Suitcase Fusion are available for download immediately from Extensis. Suitcase Fusion's estimated street price is £65, for full product and £299 for Suitcase Fusion, five-users. In addition, upgrades to Suitcase Fusion are available for an estimated street price of £37 from Suitcase X1 or Font Reserve 3.
