Elgato has announced version 2 of EyeTV – the software that allows recording for TV straight onto the hard disk of a Mac, and now onto the video enabled iPod with one click of the "Export to iPod" button.
It is also possible to set schedules to automatically export recordings to iPod.
Elgato had offered TV to iPod functionality in the version of EyeTV launched on December 2. EyeTV 1.8.4 was a free update that offered the capacity to export recordings to formats that are optimised for viewing on video-capable iPods and on televisions connected to iPods.
In addition to iPod functionality, EyeTV 2 includes an updated drag and drop user interface and a new onscreen remote control. Recordings can now be organised in playlists, programmes can be organised through a variety of sort features, and it is possible to create favourite channel lists. In addition the software features an integrated and searchable TV programme guide.
Users who bought EyeTV hardware or software after December 1 are entitled to a free update. For everyone else, it is available at the introductory price of 49 Euros until March 31, and 79 Euros after that date.
