Apple is working to support new UK musicians at the beginning of their careers.
The company is working with Youth Music and the British Academy of Composers and Songwriters to: "Offer budding young musicians the chance to kick-start their careers," the company said.
The partners have launched a competition (open to solo writers and groups) to attract entries in any musical style: the Songwriters Academy. Finalists from each category will be invited to a one-day Apple music software masterclass with industry experts.
Finalists will also get to work with "a number one songwriter", have their song released commercially, get the chance to reveal the track at a music industry showcase, and will be awarded free equipment for songwriting.
The competition has a series of closing dates:
July 16 - closing date for over 18s
October 2 - closing date for 18s and under
