HP has released a collection of inkjet printers aimed at digital photographers – the PSC 2110, PSC 2210 and PhotoSmart 230.
The USB HP PhotoSmart 230 is a portable solution for digital photographers. It has Compact Flash type II, SmartMedia, Sony Memory Stick, Secure Digital and MultiMedia card slots. It's possible to print photos directly from the memory card when away from the Mac. The unit has a 4.5cm colour LCD screen for previewing images, with on-board controls for photo size, colour, as well as image-editing tools.
Print resolution is 4,800-x-1,200 dpi. The unit can print borderless 10-x-15cms prints, has a fold-up paper tray. It costs £199 (inc. VAT).
The PSC 2110 and PSC 2210 are all-in-one units combining scanning, printing and copying. The 2210 adds photo-card reading and printing, as well as fax facilities. It supports Sony Memory Stick, Compact Flash, Secure Digital and SmartMedia memory card formats. Like the PhotoSmart 230, the PSC 2210 can print images directly from the memory card with no need for the Mac.
Other features common to both units include: optional 4,800-optimized dpi colour printing; six-ink printing; a 48-bit colour scanner and HP's photo imaging software.
The HP PSC 2110 costs £199, while the HP PSC 2210 costs £299.
