Apple's new Macs continue to reap reams of critical acclaim.
The new multimedia remote controllable iMac G5 remains "the best consumer computer around", according to Business Week.
For professional users, Apple's new Power Mac G5 Quad is critical, with Computerworld's Yuval Kossovsky saying: ""Yesterday, I had an hour to work with Apple's new Power Mac Quad G5, and for anyone in the broadcast, sciences, music, print and photography industries, I have some advice: Place your orders now!"
Pro users - upgrade now!
Kossovsky cited the Quad's much-improved system architecture and performance increases, along with a host of underlying improvements to make the professional workhorse a warhorse.
"The improvements in speed in the new hardware are dramatic. My After Effects projects ran more than 60 per cent faster compared with the Power Mac G5 with dual 2.5-GHz processors", he wrote. He also saw a 50 per cent increase in Final Cut Pro speed, he added.
"There is no reason for any professional facility not to upgrade because the equipment cost will quickly be recouped in the form of higher productivity and the ability to serve more clients faster," he urges.
You won't get better!
"Provided you don't need Windows for critical applications, you won't find anything better - or nearly as good," as a new iMac, Business Week says.
The report praises Apple's OS as the "best and easiest", and calls Front Row "excellent" in terms of its usability.
However, the lack of a TV tuner card in the product is mentioned.
