Apple will ship new PowerBooks and Power Macs shortly, a website claims, adding that the company has trademarked a brand new word, "Vingle".

Citing "sources", AppleInsider reports the new products will ship this month. The PowerBook will be the last to ship with a G4 chip while the Power Macs will carry IBM's dual-core PowerPC 970MP G5 processors, which offer major performance gains and carry dual-core G5 chips. These will be dual processor machines.

The release of new PowerBooks has reportedly been delayed because Apple has been pushing much of its engineering resources at the new Intel Macs.

Battery life, hard drive size and new memory will feature in the machines, reported to carry the same speeds - but better processors - than before.

Vingle is a new trademark filing that stakes general claims for the name in the audio entertainment, computer hardware, and telecoms and broadcast categories.
