European digital music operator OD2 today announced that it has sold one million downloaded tracks in the first quarter 2004.
The company said these figures represent a doubling of its download business in comparison to the fourth quarter 2003 – and a massive ten-fold increase in sales in comparison to the year-earlier period.
OD2 licenses its service to a variety of operators across Europe. In comparison, Apple's industry-leading iTunes Music Store has sold in excess of 50 million songs to consumers across the US.
OD2 said its turnover for the quarter was $1.84 million.
