Microsoft has released Office v. X for Mac - its suite of productivity applications for Mac OS X.
The suite offers solutions for word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, e-mail-management and personal information management, and takes advantage of OS X's Quartz graphics-engine and its Aqua interface.
Office X includes e-mail and PIM (personal information manager) enhancements to Entourage X, as well as to Word X, Excel X and the PowerPoint X presentation graphics program.
New application-wide features are multi-selection options and programmable keyboard shortcuts. Other features include an undo icon in Excel, new PowerPoint packages, and improved QuickTime movie options in PowerPoint.
Microsoft marketing manager Jonathan Hulse said: "The launch of Office X means that Microsoft customers will be able to work full time in OS X. By leveraging all the key components of OS X’s modern architecture, Office X will bring Mac users the best possible experience under Apple’s new operating system."
Office X was designed by London-based digital-media agency Nykris, which created its Aqua look-&-feel.
Office v. X is available as an upgrade version for £229 and as a stand-alone solution for £429. Both prices include VAT.
