Microsoft Office v.X for Mac has been delayed.

The product was originally scheduled to ship in the UK on November 19. Now Microsoft has revealed that this date has slipped to November 30.

Microsoft sources were reticent to discuss the reasons for the delay, but admitted: "Office is the only Microsoft application manufactured in the US. One of the factors contributing to the delay is the September 11 attacks, which posed a strain on transportation."

The company did not cite this as the only reason for the delay, and the source would not be drawn further.

Meanwhile, reports from the US indicate that customers who ordered Office from the US Apple Store have also been sent a shipment-delay notice. It's not known if the delay affects the Microsoft Mac Business Unit's international markets.

Microsoft Office:v.X for Mac costs £430 for the full version. Users who have purchased Office 2001 for Mac, Word + Entourage 2001 Special Edition, or any individual Office 2001 for Mac application (Word or Excel), can upgrade to Office 10 for Mac OS X for the special upgrade price of £149 – available directly through Microsoft only. The standard upgrade price is £229. These prices are the recommended retail prices from Microsoft, and are inclusive of VAT.
