Apple has withdrawn its older Power Mac G4 Server configurations from sale on Apple Stores worldwide.
This is thought to be a move to boost sales of its new 1U rack-mounted Xserve solution, which incorporates the same system-controller architecture in the new Power Mac G4 range.
Apple's Xserve supports up to 480GB storage, and offers dual Gigabit Ethernet and SCSI support. Single 1GHz processor and dual 1GHz processor models are available. The units cost from £2,599.
The withdrawn Power Mac G4 servers were available in 933MHz and dual 1GHz configurations, and cost from £1,999.
It's not known if stock of these Power Mac G4 Server configurations remains available in Apple's reseller channels.
