MetaCreations has announced Painter 6 - a new version of its "natural-media" image-creation software - as well as a new 3D bundle and a cut-price Headline Studio.
Painter recreates traditional artists’ mediums, such as oils, acrylics, airbrushes, charcoals and felt pens. The new version features brush loading, allowing for multiple-colour painting with each brush stroke.
New impasto brushes offer the ability to paint with depth, and an image-hose sprays images with rotation and scaling based on the bearing, tilt and pressure of the user’s hand.
Users can now run text on a curve, and reshape the baseline by moving beziér curve handles. Words can be inserted, edited, tilted, rotated, stretched and scaled directly on a curve, with automatic, configurable drop-shadows.
Other improvements include CMYK TIFF support; support for Wacom’s Intuos tablet, pen and airbrush; industry-standard extensible layers, and an improved interface with expandable palettes and intuitive environment.
MetaCreations’ new Creative 3D Studio bundle comprises Poser 3 figure-modelling software, Bryce 3D for creating natural landscapes, and Ray Dream 3D - an animation and modelling package. The bundle is available for a limited period, priced at £99.
Headline Studio, the company’s Web-banner creation program, has also been reduced from £179 to £79. The software’s features include the application of video effects such as walk-ins, dissolves and fades to images and text.
