The head of Palm Inc's Platform Solutions Group, Alan Kessler, has resigned.
Kessler was responsible for developing, licensing and expanding the Palm OS platform on Palm's handheld devices.
Palm did not disclose details surrounding his resignation, but Kessler admitted he is "ready to move on to a new challenge".
Palm's chairman Eric Benhamou will step in for Kessler until a permanent replacement is found.
The news of Kessler's departure comes a day after Palm's announcement that it is acquiring Be, the creator of the BeIA and BeOS operating systems.
Be announced yesterday that it will sell its intellectual property and technology assets to Palm for $11 million. The deal should be complete by the fourth quarter 2001.
